This is a fairly well-known with vintage costume jewelry collectors. It appears in a number of boots, including on page 141 of "Fun Jewelry" by Nancy Schiffer. Staret was in business from 1941 until 1946, so this brooch is quite old. It is 3 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide, and it is a bird cage hung from a large bow. Inside the birdcage is a parrot on a spring so he is a trembler. He is quite fancy with some enamel and a lot of clear rhinestones. The whole brooch is very colorful and is a gilded base metal. It is in excellent condition for being 75 or so years old with all of the rhinestones and enamel intact. A fine find for the serious collector.
